Default In game prizes for PvE competitions

Since PvP is losing its money support anyways, and only in game prizes will be given out, why not have PvE competitions for those in game prizes as well?

Anet doesn't have to worry about not having enough money to give out real life prizes, so they could give prizes to the top 8 finishers in something like the fastest run in DoA/UW/FoW/Urgoz/Deep (without consumables/ursan to make it more challenging), maybe one for each month.

Sorta like the idea, but what items did you have in mind? I hope it isn't some useless "super duper rare" item that the winners grind to get just so they can make big bucks out of it.

I don't think they should give something 'uber rare'. Just enough to make people even care to do it. And make them customized on spot to solve the trading problem (if the rewards are even items).

Anyways... /signed if it develops into a full, thought-out idea.

Hm... the Challenge ladders were a bad idea. PvE should never have a single trace of competition.

I like the idea but instead of elite areas how about a NPC that gives a new riddle every week. You get 1 hour or 2 to finish his cryptic quest. And your account can only do the quest once. The riddle changes so Wiki can not destroy the challenge. Quest could be anything like find an item and bring it to me or destroy something. But again it would be in riddles and you would have to figure it out yourself.

So I guess they need to remove trading and item rarities then, since both facilitate competition in their own regard. Item Rarities for who can get THAT AWSM GOLD/GREEN HELL YEA and trading causes competition at the higher level of items, as well as the competition known as "bartering".

I do not get things in PvE to compete with others. I get them because I want them.
Almost everyone I know in-game does the same.

PvE =/= Competition.

PvE == Cooperation.

Not sure what kind of prize you were considering. Money obviously is not one of them, but in game items are quite limited.

Mini-pet? Please, no more minis.
Weapon? Either uber rare, and would make PvE players mad, or uber common and not worth it.
Skills? Please, no more PvE skills.
Title? Please no more titles.
Monument? We already have monuments for the elite areas.
Armor? See weapon.
Cape? GvG players will not be happy.

So what exactly would be awarded, and how? Based on player alone, or guild/alliance? Based on time (ugh, Factions missions were bad enough)?

/unsigned because there isn't much info to make me want this more than I currently do.
